Welcome to Brightblack

If you've ended up here, then 'hello!'. This isn't an active website per se, it's just a holding page really, which now and then links to whatever mini-projects I'm working on. They might be some code tests, write ups from some tinkerings the Raspberry Pi, it might just be some straight writings (I've done NaNoWriMo a couple of times) or some notes on studying Japanese. The point being that this is not a full, coherent website, which is regularly updated, but at least it's HTML 5 compliant. For some more current regular and current content from me, take a look at, though that is more tilted towards motorcycling and outoor stuff these days.

Brightblack Classic

The original site ran from 1996 to 2008. I've been somewhat lovingly looking to restore it in MarkDown along with some commentary on the original pages with the goal of once more deploying it again with some context, in more modern HTML5 compliant markup generated by a site generator for this modern world, but keep much of the graphics as was. Some of ithe content was is almost cringe inducing in style, and that doesn't include the sheer number of typos which survived so many years and revisions. I'll put it up when it's human readable.

Brightblack Current

There are a few pages which I've written in the last few years which just didn't sit right on the above blog, so they're presented here:

Mobile Purchases - Summer 2014

Content Management System - Grav

I've been quite curious over the years about various content management systems, and have tried quite a few to see what works and what doesn't. Recently I'vebeen trying a flat file database system called 'Grav' on a friend's website to see how it goes.
